Rebekka W.R. Bremmer (1977) has a master's degree in Modern Western Literature and Latin-American Literary Studies from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. She writes novels, plays and lyrics. Her debut novel Eb (Low Tide) was published in 2012 and was named one of the best novels of the year by Het Parool. Of her second novel De evolutie van een huwelijk (The Evolution of a Marriage) De Groene Amsterdammer said: ‘A beautiful novel. Beautiful in its ambition, its attempt to give an old story a new emotion.’ Her third novel, De maan danst op het erf van de doden (The Moon Dances in the Courtyard of the Dead) tells the story of Fanny Schoonheyt, a Dutch female fighter, the friendship between Lorca and Neruda, and Maruca, Neruda’s first wife, during the Spanish Civil War. Acoording to Trouw ‘an intriguing mosaic of stories with careful observations and written in a pure style.’ Rebekka teaches Creative Writing (in Dutch and in English) at HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
